Intalled Secondhand Drive Problem

My hard drive packed up so i installed another one from another PC that also
has XP. I get a message that says hard drive not regonised.

Any Ifo would be apprceited.

use it.

Did you enter your system BIOS to take a look?
 
your cmos/bios may
require you to enable
the device.

Also, it may require
you to set the harddrive
jumpers on both drives
according to their role, e.g.
master and slave....

check their makers perspective
websites for instructions...

Doesn't sound like you installed it properly. Is the cabling correct and
did you set the jumpers on it properly? Check on the hard drive
manufacturer's web site for info on how to install their drive. After it's
recognized the odds of XP booting from it and running are small unless the
two machines are virtually identical in hardware. You'll need to at least
do a repair install.
