insufficient memory at start up

when restarting computer, I recieve insufficient memory to
run this application, quit 1 or more programs and try again
 
How much memory is installed ? 256mb is borderline,512mb is adequate,you
can at start-up,tap the F8 key,then select,safe-mode with networking,enter
as ADM.,R.click my computer,properties,advanced,virtual-memory,change
button,L.click or highlite C:,then chk the box,"let windows manage",click
set 2X,then close-out,a restart should be required.
