installutil error

when i tried to do the command prompt installutil.exe i got this error:
'installUtil' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

can someone please tell me what does it mean and what is it that i must
do?

Hi,

Not sure from where you've got the command prompt. I guess
for sure that you have got the command prompt from the
Start->Run

Well, for the .NET, you need to have the .NET Command
prompt that opens from Start->Microsoft visualstudio.NET -
.NET tools->command prompt.

else, your utilities might be corrupted or any of its
references might have been deleted. Reinstalling of only
the .NET framework should then work.

now the problem is:

The Rollback phase completed successfully.

The transacted install has completed.
The installation failed, and the rollback has been performed.


my question is, what is a Rollback?
what caused the installation to fail?
