I am slightly confused...when installing windows XP (I currently have ME and
want to do a clean install), do i have the computer on, insert the disc,
ignore the options that appear and just restart the comp?

Or do I follow the prompts on screen that appear after I put in the CD
whilst ME is running? I don't know if the options that appear are for
upgraders only...

Hope that wasnt confusing in itself...thanks!

If you truly want to perform a clean installation, yes.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
