I'm running ME on desktop and having a lot of problems.
I'm at a point now where I cna get windows to launh, but
nearly anything I do causes and error or makes windows
hang.
I'd like to upgrade to XP home. Can I do the upgrade
intallation even though ME is not functioning and still
retain my current preferences/programs/files as they are
in ME?
Do I need to be able to launch the XP upgrade wizard
through ME or can I boot to the XP installation disk and
launch the wizard that way to upgrade?
I can also start in safe mode, can I launch the wizard
that way?

Thanks

I would not recommend attempting to upgrade to Windows XP
if your current Windows ME installation is corrupt. It would be
much better to perform a "clean install" of Windows XP.
