how do you install xp ( non sp1 ) on a SATA HDD, i boot
to windows xp, and is comes up saying it cannot detect a
disk, but i have checked the disk is in there and
working, i have already installed a partition on it using
partition magic 8.1
any help would be appreciated

You'll have to open your BIOS and make drive setup corrections.
Consult your motherboard's User's Guide for instructions.

You need to place the SATA drivers on a floppy
There comes a point in the XP installation where it asks you if its a RAID setup
at which point you push F6 and then point it to the SATA drivers on the floppy.

I haven't seen any workarounds for this. Install a floppy temporarily. Some
motherboards don't need the drivers to install, but apparently yours isn't
one.

What if you don't have a floppy drive. I am building a new PC and decided
against having a floppy. Installing WinXP Home fails saying it cannot find
the hard drive, yet the bios sees it, and I partitioned/formatted it with
the MaxBlast Software.
I pressed F6?? when XP install asked if I wanted to load SCSI (or other
drivers??) and removed the XP disk and tried to browse the (ASUS) drivers CD
but it didn't see anything on the CD. Any suggestions?
