Hello List,

I've installed XP Home on a PC which had startup problem
with NVDIA Graphics card. I could solve the problem so I
decided to rollback to Windows 2000. Now my question is:
Can I use the XP CD to install on another PC or Notebook?
Will there be a licence problem?

Thanks in advance,
Shaf.

Hi Shaf

If you have already activated XP, you will have to contact Microsoft and explain to them what you have done - they may be able to help you. If the CD is an OEM version, then no you can't transfer it.

You can try it. I have had to format my pc 3 times and I have been able to
re-install XP and activate it without a hassle and my hardware was a little
different each time.

If it is a retail copy of Windows XP then you can transfer it from one
machine to another. If it has been less than 120 days since the last
activation of that XP license then you may have to phone Microsoft and
do a manual activation. This only takes a few minutes and you should
not have to do anything more than tell them that you have removed it
from the previous computer and are now installing it on a different
machine.

If it is an OEM version of Windows XP, such as one that came bundled
with a new computer, then that license is permanently locked to the
first computer that it was installed on and is not transferrable to
any other computer under any circumstances.

Good luck
