I'm attempting to install Windows XP from the cd-rom
drive at boot-up. The cd-rom is set as the first in the
boot order in the BIOS, but it still doesn't seem to be
working. I'm thinking I could use a boot disk in the
floppy drive to remedy the problem, but I think that
would require me to include the MSCDEX file, which I'm
not sure exactly how to do. If anyone has any
suggestions at all, please let me know. Thanks!

You can download the files to create a boot disk, with CD support from
http://www.bootdisk.com

Now, for the problem of booting from CD. Is this a full install version of
XP? Or an OEM recovery CD? If the former, there is usually a prompt to
"press any key to boot from CD" ........... Check your computer's manual
for more information on booting from the CD.
