I want to install Windows XP into an USB flash drive and booting from it.
Can anyone recommend a website or an article that details the steps to do it?

I would recommend Google, a great search engine. Your not going to be able
to do this without hacking the installation.
 
Thank you, yes, I think I heard of Google. I was just wondering if anyone
have tried this successfully and could recommend an article.

I think there is a version of BartPE that can boot from a flash drive. Keep
in mind that your mainboard has to be capable of booting from USB, or you
aren't going to get anywhere!
