I haven't seen this exact error but to get this during a clean
installation I would be suspicious of the hardware or the media. I'm not
sure from your post if the reboot was at the end of setup or not. If setup
completed you can boot using the Windows XP Home CD and use the Recovery
Console to Repair the most likely problem. If setup did not complete or
get far enough to create the backup registry files you will have to
reinstall. The following article discusses the file that needs to be
renamed and replaced.

In your next post please specify the following:

Is this a sysprep Image install or a Retail/OEM CD?
Does the error occur when booting into safe mode?
If you swap the RAM modules around does the error appear?
How large is the disk you are installing to? Confirm the size while in
Recovery Console. You can use diskpart.exe which works in recovery console
to get the size of the partition you installed to.
