Hello.
I have partitioned my hd on my laptop to be ready to
install win2000 advanced server. I am running WinXP home
and wish to have a dual boot option. I've not performed
this install before with XP. Does anyone have a
suggestion where I could find a step by step do create a
dual boot so I can install a 2nd O/S, Windows 2000
Advanced Server on my laptop? Any suggestions where I
could locate this info? I've searched the Microsoft
Database and Knowledge Base and could not find any
articles on this topic
Thanks. Fred

It's easy. Install win2k server first (the older os has to be installed
first), then install XP home on the second partition. XP will set the dual
boot up for you.

You don't need a step by step guide, Fred. Firstly you
won't be able to install Win 2000 server while XP is on
your machine. The reason being, that Win 2000 server is
older than XP. The workaround is to reformat your XP
partition to get rid of XP.
The next step once XP no longer exists on your hard drive
is to install Windows 2000 Server on your C partition.
After this has been installed you then install Windows
XP. Once XP has been installed and you finally reboot
your machine a dual boot menu should appear asking you
whether you wish to boot into Windows 2000 server or
Windows XP.
Currently, on my own machine, i have a triple boot system
comprising Windows XP Professional on drive C: Windows XP
Media Center Edition on drive D: and Windows Server 2003
on drive F: (as you can see from the order of
installation XP came first, followed by Media Center,
followed by Server 2003)

Hope this helps
