Hello All,

Can I legally install Win XP Pro Upgrade on both my desktop and laptop using the same CD? Thanks!

Clay

Yes, once you purchase a second license (Product Key), you can
use the same CD.

Each installation of Windows XP, installed on a different computer,
requires it's own unique license (Product Key). Therefore, if you
wish to install Windows XP on a second computer, you'll have to
purchase a second license. Otherwise, the second installation will
not activate and you'll be in violation of the End User License Agreement.

Please take a moment to read the EULA.

Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.
Click on "End-User License Agreement".

You can also open XP's "Help and Support" and type: EULA
and hit enter. Click on "Questions and answers about the EULA".

Hi Clay,

No, you are confusing the MSOffice license (which does allow for what you
state) with the Windows license (which does not). You need one license for
each system upon which Windows is installed.

If it is the retail version which you bought from the shop then YES. You will, however, need to read Micky Mouse Stevens' advice ([email protected]) given on this website:

http://www.microscum.com/mmpafaq

I must emphasize that everything is legal provided you can confirm by phone that one PC has gone kaput!! The activation is generally automatic if you use the internet after 120 days of installing on the first machine. Uncle Bill hasn't gone the means to verify if you are telling the truth or not! I understand Japan is taking M$ to court for Uncle Bill's unfair trade practices.

Hope this helps.

I use non Microsoft products wherever possible which requires no activation.

I use Netscape 7.2 as my default browser which has everything I need for my work.

I believe in good Financial Management!! I do not believe in enriching rich jerks!
