Could somebody please help me with information on how to
install and run windows me with windows xp. I have
installed them both and have the option on booting up the
computer to run ME or XP. XP works but selecting ME
prompts me with a hardware configuration error. Does
anybody know how I can get this to work! Thanx Mark

Did you install on different partitions? or on the same
partition? - The advice is not to install on the same
partition because of the differences. OS's should install
fine but you may have issues using programs installed on
one OS on another.

Did you install ME first? Did Windows ME work before the
dual boot setup? Is it an issue with the dual boot or is it
an issue with ME?

Does ME boot into safe mode? What's the hardware config error?

Did you set up a separate partition for a dual boot
environment? If not, you will always get an invalid
message from choosing the OS not in NTLDR ( the windows
2000/ XP boot loader). You have to set up two partitions
if you intend to use two operating systems ( I currently
run a multiboot environment of Windows 98 Second Edition,
Windows 2000 Professional SP4, and Windows XP
Professional SP2, with no problems in any of the three
and can boot into any of them as each has their own
partition ( I created a primary DOS and Extended DOS
partition with fdisk from a 98 boot floppy, and used
windows 2000, the second system I loaded, to format the
remaining partition space to give me 3 equal partitions
each with it's own operating system). W98 on C, WXP Pro
on D (installed last and shares W2K NTLDR in it's boot
strap and thereby pulling 98 in using W2K boot strap),
W2K Pro on E (installed second and has 98 shared in it's
boot strap).

Have installed ME on one harddisk and XP on the other
both have active partitions. I did try to put them both
on one harddisk but fdisk would only give me a 8mb
partition. Could you please explain the steps to creating
multiple partitions on a hdd, Can this be done without
reformatting hdd?
