Personally I am not happy at all with windows xp, I would
like to install windows 98 over it. Is this possible? It
tells me that I can not run the win 98 disk with win xp
running, that I must start in DOS. How do I do this?
Please help.

You cannot install an older version of Windows over a newer one, you need to
format your drive and start clean. Please consider things very carefully
before doing anything - if this is a new computer it won't have 98 drivers
for the hardware and you will void the warranty. If anything goes wrong you
will have relieved the manufacturer/vendor of all obligation to assist you.
If I were you, I'd leave well alone and learn to love XP. If you really must
install 98, you will need to boot from the 98 CD (see your system manual)
and format the drive.

Hi. If you installed XP over 98 you can revert back to it.
It's in the help menus about how to do it. Otherwise,
you'll need to start fresh with a 98 bootdisk and you will
go to the FDISK utility on the bootdisk(BD) delete the
partition then create a new one (fat 32) then reboot and
format C:\ then install 98.

BUT, XP is WAY better then 98!!!!

Good luck!

Well, if you installed XP over 98 you MAY be able to revert back to
98, but ONLY if you told XP to back up your 98 files. If you didn't
tell XP to do that, you'll have to either use a DOS bootdisk/Win98 CD,
or a Win98 CD that is bootable (and yes, the Win98 CD is bootable).

You have to reformat the disk (unless you did an upgrade and saved the
old system files for Add/Remove Programs).

Boot a Win98 startup floppy, use its FDISK to delete the current
partition, 'DOS Primary' or 'Non-DOS' (NTFS). Reboot to FORMAT C: then
go to the Win98 CD in the drive and run its SETUP
