Installing Updates

I had to do a clean install of XP Pro (OEM) to a new hard drive and would
like to know what the correct and best way is to download and install all of
the Windows updates (Critical). I have no software installed other than OS.
Should I start with SP1 and move forward from there, downloading each
critical update separately. Should the updates be installed in safe mode? I
seem to remember that after installing SP1 there were a few issues with
Outlook Express, etc. What should I look out for? Will installing the
updates after SP1 cure any issues caused by SP1.

Would someone kindly recommend the best way to get up to date with the
Updates.

Many Thanks!!!

TK.

Hi,

No need to use Safe mode. Install SP1a first, then install the others a few
at a time. This will allow you to isolate any that cause issues (if one
does, either uninstall it or use System Restore). The few minor problems in
SP1a are addressed in later updates.

I miss it as well in many ways, but this group needs a lot more help and I
only have "so much time".
