Installing TT Fonts on Windows XP Pro

Having a problem trying to install TT fonts on Win XP
PRO. Anytime I try to do this, I get a message saying
that the fonts are in use. The fonts are in no way in
use. Any ideas on what is causing this message, or even
how to get around this?

How are you trying to install them? Which fonts are they? And, have
you checked the c:\windows\fonts folder to see if those fonts have
previously been installed? That folder is a hidden, system folder.
 
The Fonts are not in the Font folder. The message that
I am getting is that the fonts are in use. I have tried
copying them off a network drive. I have tried just
doing a drag and drop in to the fonts folder. I have
tried going through the control pannel and using the
install fonts. Everything that I try, still gives me the
same message, that the fonts are in use.
