installing the newsgroup newsreader

The instructions say:
"In the Commands list, click News, and drag it, without releasing the
mouse, until it rests over the Go menu. When the menu displays a list
of commands, point to where you want the command to appear, and then
release the mouse."

Well, the menu never "displays a list of commands." So now what,
Microsoft?

Also, [rhetorical] why can't Outlook have the same basic features as
outlook express including picture viewing in pane and a newsgroup
reader and why can't the Contacts work more like a basic contact
database with sinmple grouping features, etc.? &^%&^%$*^% aggrevating.

Outlook doesn't actually have a newsreader. It uses Outlook Express'
newsreader. If you don't need the extra features of Outlook, use OE instead.
Make sure Outlook Express is selected in Internet Options, Programs,
Newsgroups.

You aren't doing it right, then... but dragging an item over a toolbar will
let you drop it. (No need to drop it on the go menu - drop it on any toolbar
you like.)

Outlook was designed for the business user, OE for the home user who only
needs email. For that reason, Outlook doesn't support some features that
home users desire and administrators dislike - like newsgroup support and
inline imaging. Business users need the more advanced contact features, but
if you learn how to use customized views, you may be able to get the view
you want.

Finally, unless you need the advanced features in Outlook, stick with OE.
You should always use the program that meets you needs the best - for many
people, it's OE. Others of us need the power Outlook provides.
