Installing optical mouse

I have connected a new Medion wireless mouse to the mouse port of my
computer, and installed the software. Unfortunately the pointer is hard to
control and moves eratically around the screen. Checking control panel it
tells me that I am still using a Microsoft mouse with a Microsoft mouse
driver dated July 2001. Uninstalling the mouse doesn't help as it just
reinstalls the same mouse and driver. Pointing hardware manager at the
correct location for the new driver just tells me that the is no suitable
driver in that location (presumably because it thinks its a microsoft
mouse). How can install the new mouse with the correct driver?

Thanks

Gary

In device manager, try deleting the mouse. Make sure you have the mouse
software (drivers specifically) available somewhere on your hard drive. When
you start up and plug&pray detects the mouse, see if you can point it at the
right driver.

Thanks, but I have done that. It seems to immediately recognise a microsoft
mouse, even though it isn't one, and then tells me that there is no suitable
driver in the location I browse to,

Sounds like the software provided with the mouse is flawed. Probably
best to contact vendor. I see they have email support available from
their web page.

Tried that too. Might be easier to try raising the dead!
