Can OpenOffice 2.01 be installed over v. 1.1.5 or do I have to
uninstall that first?

You can do either, or, third choice, install OO 2.01 to a new
directory, run them side by side if you want, and decide on uninstall
later.

It's better to deinstall.

I uninstalled, worried that I might lose my settings, templates, and so
forth. But nothing was lost (the program still calls itself 2.0, so I'm
not sure I didn't just reinstall the same thing as I had before).

I completely removed OOo2.0 before installing the new version and the new
version reads 2.0
so you came out with the new version too and not the old one. Just not sure
why it doesn't show
up as 2.0.1.
