Just installed a new Sata drive and would like to use it
as XP boot drive(C:) any suggestions

Either use the software that most likely was included with the drive (floppy
disc) and purchase Drive Copy and clone one drive to the other.

.
I ran into the same sitsuation.
I got a Seagate 80 GB drive. I downloaded the driver from
Seagate web site, then put it on a floppy disk. Then when
you go through the XP install process, at the beginning,
it will say, PRESS F6 TO INSTALL ANY DRIVERS, or something
like that. You get a few seconds to press F6, so do
that. Then it will load some files, then it will say put
floppy disk in drive A and press ENTER. Then press enter,
and it will scan the floppy disk and then it will display
on your screen a choice of what driver to install, select
the one that is for XP by using your arrow keys to
highlight it, press enter. Then it will install the rest
of the installation files, etc.
