Sound like a silly question but just got a new p.c with XP pro. Am I allowed to install XP (the one from the new p.c) on my old p.c or is that deemed illegal ,ie piracy

Of course it's a silly question. Apparently you didn't read the EULA you agreed
to. It's not illegal, but it certainly would be a violation of the MS License
Agreement. More importantly it wouldn't work since it wouldn't activate. And if
it's an OEM version it wouldn't even install on your old PC.

Cheers,
John

You cant, but you can install LINUX on as many computers as you like and it
is free.

And it's worth exactly what you paid for it.

BWAHAHAHAHAH! Says the brain-dead sheep who wouldn't know anything better if
it was a paper bag filled with dogshit and dropped on his head from a rooftop!
Or maybe that's already happened and it's the reason you're already so
brain-dead.

No. The rule is quite clear. It's one copy (or one license) for
each computer.

There's nothing new here. This is exactly the same rule that's
been in effect on every version of Windows starting with Windows
3.1. The only thing new with XP is that there's now an
enforcement mechanism.

Go to the link and use the information there to make up your own mind. Don't
just accept 'no' from anyone in here as a concrete answer without a little more
to base your own opinion on.

No. Windows is provided under license to install on a single machine.
It may be transferred if it is a retail copy, but not installed on two
at once.
