I am trying to install Microsoft Automap onto my new laptop with XP Pro. It
is a 16 bit program and only comes on floppys. I copied the floppies from
another computer that had a floppy drive onto an external hard drive and
tried to install from that. I got part way trhough the installation but get
stopped everytime when it has to read the files on disk 2. I would appreciate
any help with this. I used the program a lot through the years.

Copy each floppy into its own folder, and name the folder the same as the
floppy.
Got to be worth a try.

That's what I did but it wouldn't open the second one.

Wouldn't open the floppy, or wouldn't open the folder on the hard drive?

Sometimes old magnetic media just isn't readable anymore. You may end up
having to use one of several online map sites.

Wouldn't open the second folder(disk) that I had copied to the external hard
drive. I'll check it out on another computer to see if the files are
corrupted. You may be right about the media. It's 1994 vintage.

Get an external floppy drive and install from there. No guarantee it
will run though.
