installing off discs???

i dont know why. but for some reason when ever a try to install anything that
installs off a CD i ca nt install. this is mainly with games. windows install
still try to install, but somewhere along the line it always freezes or gives
me a error message about how it cant continue. is this because of the disc
drive messing up or something else?

This problem will occur if the CDs are dirty or scratched, or if the laser
lens in the CD drive is dirty. You can use a lens cleaning disc and vacuum
the dust out of the drive. Your CD drive could be faulty. Have you tried
copying files from a CD to your hard drive? This will check whether the CD
drive is reading files OK. Can you play music CDs OK? There are lots of free
CD drive testing programs:

Can you try a known working CD drive in your computer?
