I have had several installs of XP Pro after having
computer problems. Now the CD isn't letting me intall
anymore. Are there limitations on how many installs you
can do?

There is no limit on the number of times you can re-install XP. You have a
problem with either a damaged XP disk, BIOS settings, or a hardware
malfunction.

Post back to this thread and give some details as to what is happening when
you attempt to install.

I'm not at home right now so I don't remember all of it.
It happened on my newest version of Win 98 SE about a year
ago, then after upgrading to Win XP Pro a month ago, and
several software conflicts causing crashes and reinstalls,
after formating and trying a reinstall, it wouldn't let me
install XP again. When I used my original 98SE, it
finally installed. I had heard of others with this
problem and was told that you only got 4 or 5 installs off
of the newer install CDs.
Thanks for any help!

In playing with setups etc. I have re-installed as many as 3 times in one
day. You didn't make it clear as to how you were trying to install.

Try a "Clean install" following the instructions on the link below.

Thanks to Michael Stevens.

Disconnect any peripherals except the mouse and keyboard before installing.
If you boot and install off the XP CD, at some point, you will be prompted
to insert your SE disk to prove qualification for the install.

Try this, and if it is not successful, post back with specific information
as to what happens, i.e., notices that come up on your screen, etc.
