Installing HP Laser Jet IIIP

Recently purchased a Sony with Windows XP and can't get
the subject printer to print. It shows as ready in the
printer list but won't recieve any signal from the
computer. Is the problem with the cable from parallel to
USB, or in the software?

You need to designate your printer as a "Default"

printer after installing it.
Start/ControlPanel/Printers and Other Hardware/View
printers installed. Rightclick your printer/set as
default.
