I am trying to re-install home edition after a crash, the
HD has been formatted, and when I get to installing home
edition, it gets most of the way through, then throws up
these errors, not allowing me to do anything else. I have
contacted Microsoft, but they are of no help b/c I have
an OEM product that I purchased separetly from my
computer. They say that the person I got it from is
suppose to provide support, yeah right, it'd be a cold
day in h*** before he did that, I had enough problems
getting the product from him after paying for it..and he
is no longer available to contact. So below I have posted
the errors and what happenes. If anyone has any ideas as
to what to do, please email me directly.
Error 1- this comes up when windows is
installing "devices" says: Cannot Install Hardware,
problem installing: system; error occurred during
installation-data invalid *on the bottom of that it
says "finish" I have clicked it, and it seems to go back
to installing.
Error 2- exact same as error 1.
Error 3- This happens at install of start menu- says:
stop: c0000005 (0x75ec3d48 0x004ff594) System has been
shut down. So, I restarted this process all over, errors
1 and 2 happen again.. then it comes up with error4.
Error 4- Starts at install of start menu. same as 3
except the numbers are (0x75ec3d48 0x0066f594)

There has also been occassion that it says something to
the effect looking for 1386 and asks to retry and I do.

I have been trying to get my computer up and running for
3 days now, getting highly irritated, as Microsoft wants
more $ to help, and I paid enough for the software...suck
us dry Bill Gates just so you can build another 20 some
odd bathrooms in your home why dont you.

Jeanne;
Don't go on to far about Microsoft not supporting your OEM Windows XP.
No support from Microsoft is one of the many reasons you paid less for
your OEM Windows XP than I paid for my retail version.

Make sure your computer is ready for Windows XP:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/home/howtobuy/upgrading/default.asp

Follow this for a Clean Installation:
Clean Installation
Disconnect all peripherals (camera, printer, scanner, etc)
Disconnect network/modem cable.
Go to BIOS and set CDROM as boot device before hard drive.
Insert Windows XP CD and reboot.
At "Press any key to boot to CDROM" quickly press a key and follow the
prompts for a Clean installation:
http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase/windowsxp_sg_clean.asp
Delete all partitions in step 5 if you desire to erase all data on the
hard drive.
Partitioning and formatting will be done automatically.
All data will be destroyed, back-up important data first.

Enable or install firewall BEFORE connecting network cable.

Install ALL Critical Windows Updates:
Start/All Programs/Windows Update

After you are finished, you will need to load the appropriate drivers.

If your computer was shipped with Windows XP, these procedures may or
may not apply.
Check your manual or contact the computer manufacturer for more
details.

I have followed all of the things you said to do, and I
still get the errors, so windows will not install. There
are no cams, printers..nothing attached to my computer at
the time of install except a monitor and all neccessary
hardware inside the case to run. Now what?

Jeanne;
Clean the CD and drive.
One or both of those may be causing the problem.

The errors you have suggest a hardware incompatibility if they are
consistent.
Hardware problem if they change randomly.
Reseat all cards and cables.
If you have multiple memory sticks, remove and swap out making sure to
stay above 64mb Windows XP Minimum.
