I am working on Windows 2000 Professional & use AVG Anti-Virus 6.0 (with the latest updates) to avoid malicious worms & virus. Since I already have an anti-virus software installed in my PC, will installing a firewall be still recommended to ensure maximum protection for my system? Can someone suggest me some firewalls (free ones!)? I am working on a stand-alone machine.

Thanks,

Arpan

Antivirus and firewall is the minimum.

Google for free firewall.

ZoneAlarm is free. Without a firewall, you're vulnerable to hacker attack. Anti-virus software won't protect you against hacking.

Some antivirus packages, e.g. Trend PC-Cillin (www.trendmicro.com) come with an integrated firewall.
