I need to download the following drivers for my IEEE 1394:

1394BUS.SYS
DVCAM.INF
DVCAM.SYS
OHCI1394.SYS

But when I try to download them myself by browsing in the "Update Driver"
wizard in the Device Wizard, it searches the floppy where I have them but
deems the drivers "unrelated" to the hardware and therefore does not install
them. HELP! How would I install them?

The Add New Hardware Wizard should let you do this with no problems. Is
this a card you added yourself or did it come with your machine? What
action has prompted the need to install these drivers?

It is a IEEE 1394 FireWire card that I added to my computer. Like many of
those who have cameras that are just not detected in any way, I have a
Sony digital camcorder, Service Pack 2, and a Dell Dimension Desktop.

I would think that the wizard wouldn't detect the problem if the problem is
in the system(s) itself?

I really appreciate your help; thanks so much!

I too have a sony digital camcorder. My computer uses an MSI motherboard
with built in IEEE 1394 port. My camcorder was working on the port until
about Sept 19 roughly. I went on holidays and when I got back of course
wished to download the tape. Windows recognized the camera being there, but,
NONE of the video editing programs including the software included with the
camera, could find the camera. USB port worked fine. Perhaps this has
something to do with your problem as well? What happens if I try to
reinstall the camera, is that it recognizes that there is a sony dv camcorder
there, and starts to install the Hardware. It then exits with a 'problem
installing your hardware' message.

Perhpas one of the gurus here can corelate both problems and fix us both??
