Hi,

Can one install Corporate over Pro without losing links etc., and does
one need to reactivate it or will it get it from the previous Pro
activation.

Thanks

"Corporate"?
There is no such thing.
However there is Volume License.
If you are needing to install Volume Licensed Windows XP, you should
talk to your IT department, they know what needs to be done and how to
do it.

I have been told that work has a 'Corporate' version and it would be
later than my own Pro which I bought when it first came out for my
laptop and that I could upgrade to it.

Whoever called it Corporate does not know what they are talking about.
The name Corporate came about because that is what the pirates and
thieves called the Volume License that was essentially stolen.
I would suggest you stay away from whoever told you this, they may be
more trouble than they are worth.

In any event, the differences in Volume License affect Activation and
installation.
Other than that, they are identical.
As long as you have all the updates, you have what is most currently
available.
Okay.. I'll check in to it further at work. Mine does have all the
updates that come down automatically.

Thanks

As Jupiter said, there is no such thing as corporate. If you have XP Pro
installed and have all current updates, that's the best you are going to get
till SP2 is finalized or "Longhorn" is released.

IMO, leave it alone. JAX

Unless your company is paying for additional licenses for its employee to
use the our operating system software on their home PCs you are not allowed
to just take a copy from work and install it at home.
Check with you licensing and compliance people to ensure your IT staff an
not encouraging the use of the licensed products in a way that may breach
the volume licensing agreement and contract.
