Have home version of XP and am trying to install McAffe
Anti Virus Software with no success. On further reading
of the manufacturers installation instructions I read
where I need administrative rights to install. Being new
to this OS, How do I log on with Administrative rights?
And then, how do I then log back on as a normal user?

At your welcome screen where you choose which user to log onto, click
control-alt-delete twice and you should get the classic logon screen. There
you should delete the login name and replace it with administrator. If you
set an administrator password, of course you would need to enter that as
well. If not, leave it blank and logon.

While you are there you might want to go to your Control Panel and
double-click on User Accounts. Select your account and click on the link to
change account. Then click on the link to change account type. Change it
from Restricted to Administrator and you won't have to worry about this
problem again.

I run Norton by preference so I don't really know McAfee, but be sure and
configure it so that it automatically downloads updated virus tables, rather
than your having to remember to manualy download updates. Virus tables come
out frequently and you always want to be protected from the latest viruses
as with the Sobig and Blaster viruses, we saw them spread very fast. Good
Luck!
