Installing anti virus software

Hi! Can anyone help?
I have a 90 day trial version of McAfee Anti Virus on my PC.
I'd like to replace this with one of the free packages like AVG.
Should I uninstall McAfee before attempting to download AVG, and will my PC be vulnerable to attack by a virus at this point?

Download AVG - Chose "save" not "open", when that is downlaoded, uninstall Mc Afee, then install AVG...
 
As KGB said. To be hit with a virus within the short time you've uninstalled McAfee and installed AVG, you'd have to be extremely unlucky.

So don't do it on Friday 13th and avoid crossing the path of black cats ;)

Just to de double safe, disconnect from the internet for the 30 secconds when you have no antivirus instlled!

Nothing will happen, you shall be safe!
