how do i install anti norton internet security on vista windows hp pavilion
dv9000 if a message saying directory name invalid keeps popping up?.. help
plz

In my opinion, you don't. Norton products are next to useless and I
certainly wouldn't put any Norton product on my machine. They cause more
problems than they cure!

If you want an anti virus application use Avast anti virus (the free
version). Vista has its own firewall and spyware is covered by Windows
defender which is also already on Vista.

Does Norton offer support? I don't use the stuff myself. I use Grisoft's AVG
except on my business machine where I use ClamWin.

[Grisoft - free for personal use and popular]
http://free.grisoft.com

[ClamWin - free even for businesses]
http://www.clamwin.com

[Avast! - free for personal use and popular - requires yearly entry of a
product key they email to you]

Interesting. All your replies were "anti Norton". Now what does that
say about "anti Norton Internet Security"?

Hope this helps.

I have to agree with the other posters.
I haven't allowed a Norton product near my machines since W98.
It is my opinion that Norton is a case of the cure being worse than the
disease.
Doctor, I have an ingrown toe-nail...
We must amputate at the hip immediately...and I am taking your right hand
and left thumb as a precaution...
If you got it installed, uninstall it.
If not, quit trying to put it on & use AVG, ClamWin or Avast from the
supplied links.

anti norton internet security

What is this program?

Norton Internet Security 2007 installs and runs well under VISTA and
there's an AntirSpam addon that you can download for free from the
Norton website.

Despite other opinions, which they are entitled to, I like and trust
Norton and 2007 is much less of a resource hog than previous versions.

At least you can TOTALLY remove a virus from a computer.
You can not do that with Norton; Symantec likes to keep a hand in your wallet!

Please do NOT install NIS.

I can think of another company that likes to keep a hand in your
wallet & their programs don't completely uninstall.

If the error is "directory name is invalid", I'm going to go out on a
limb and guess that the directory name is invalid. Try a custom
install, & specify the target directory yourself. The only other
possibility that comes to mind is that it's trying to use a temp
working folder that doesn't exist.
