Installing a seoncdary hard drive/disc drive

I need to know how to get my system to recognize that I have hooked one up
but having my pc re-check its config. doesn't seem to work please respond
asap.
 
Have you hooked it up as slave to the other drive? Check your
connections and jumper settings. Also, go into the Bios
and make sure you have the IDE settings on Auto or enabled.

First be sure the all hard disks are configured properly via jumpers.
Master goes on the end of the ide cable, if ide. Note that Western Digital
hard drives have two master settings via jumper, one for alone no slave
present, and one with slave. Next, check to see if bios setup noted all
hard drives in setup.

Well I no longer need assistance the drive itself was damaged so thats why I
couldn't seem to install it thanks for your assistance anyways should I have
a problem in the future I will be sure to return here.

You shouldn't need to do anything. If it's not being seen you
probably don't have something hooked up right.

Note that it will *NOT* show up with a drive letter until you format
it. It will show up in computer management, though.
