Can anyone shed so light on my problem..
I have been trying for days to install a new printer, scanner, copier. it is
a Epson dx3800 I have done everything thousands of times that it says but
the computer keeps saying that it cannot be recognised.
The instructions are only 1 page telling me how to connect and add the ink
cartridges etc. in add and remove it has everything there also in programs
its shows up but when I click there nothing happens.
thank-you for any help that you all can give me.
Kathy

One thing you should try is disconnect printer/usb cable until you have
uninstalled /re installed the Epson h/ware.

When the s/ware is ready it'll tell you to connect it; try that.

Hello thank-you but I have tried what you had suggested but it still says it
cannot find printer

What do you see when you go to Settings/Printers? Can you open the
Properties window? Can you send a test page? Are you using XP dirvers? Did
you go to Epson homepage for documentation? Funny thing is I did a search at
Epson and it does not recognize your DX3800. Are you sure of the model
number? I see they make a CX3800.

I have just checked and I am very sorry but it is a ..DX3850 I cannot print
anything from it everytime I try that it comes up printer not recognised. in
settings there is nothing .

Did you first install the printer drivers/software BEFORE connecting the
printer? Usually since XP is a plug and play OS, the drivers must exist in
Windows before the plug and play system can correctly detect the unit.

Do your USB ports work?

No all I done was put in the disc that came with the printer and followed
there instructions ,when they told me to connect the printer I did still
nothing.

When you view the properties and click on the Advance tab do you see the
DX3800 driver installed? Suggestion. Remove the printer. Reboot with the
printer connected and turned on. When Windows tells you it has found new
hardware and asks if you want Windows to search for a driver say no and
manually select the driver from the CD. But only if you see the correct
driver installed. If not then you will need to find the DX3800 driver for
XP.
