installing a new network card

After physically removing a NIC (not using remove hardware
function) and installing a new one, the new one is
identified as LAN (2) even the original (1)is no longer
there. How can I reset it to "no number"?

Another issue: My computer has 4 USB ports, I plug a USB
device (camera) to the 1st USB port, it identifies the
name of the camera and install the drive, when the same
camera is plugged to the 2nd port, it identifies it and
designates it as camera(2), (3) in the 3rd and (4) in the
4th port. Any way to simply get the computer to detect the
same USB device once without numbering it as if it is
different.

Thanks.

Right click the connection and rename it.

The only solution I know of is to always plug it into the same port.
But the numbers don't matter -- the camera should work just as well
regardless of the numbers.
Thanks.

Thanks. Steve. I know it works just the same. It is just
that I want to tidy things up.
