Installer problem

After the latest Windows update installed early this
morning, everytime I or my wife go to our personal
desktops an installer window pops up and says it is
looking for "scan.msi" on a CD-Rom. If I try to cancel
it, it gets into a loop that ends with the same message.
The only way to get it to stop is through the task
manager. I have tried system restore to two days ago. I
have tried reinstalling the update. But the problem
persists. Any ideas how to get rid of this nuisance?

I don't see it in your post but this seems to be an HP
problem. The suggestions are to reinstall your software
for this CDrom or just search the disk for it and
install. I got the following from a site....
"The problem is in your HP all in one printer/scanner. If
you ran a register cleaner such as regseeker, the file
has been disabled or deleted. Install your HP disk and
either re-run the installation or use the browse or seek
from the 'looking for scan.msi' dialogue window. If you
do not have a disk, the file can be downloaded from the
web at www.hp.com "

A similar problem is discussed here between an IT Pro and
