Nothing comes up when I use an antivirus or ad-ware program on the file. The icon for it is bizarre. It almost looks like Rhode Island with a bunch of string all over it (really, best I could describe it). If I hold my pointer over it, I get: Description: Installer, Version: 1.0.0.5, Created: May 26, 2004, Size: 204k. If I go to properties, the description and program name are both "Installer". The Copyright is: "Copyright (copyright symbol) 2004". Under "Special Build Description" it claims "Debugger". The one very strange thing about the file, aside from the icon, is that when you right click on it to bring up the menu, you get all the usual stuff like: open, run as, delete. However, this one adds one other choice that I don't see with any other file "Pin to Start Menu". What the heck is that
Hope this will help with someone figuring this out
Thanks
JM

I am using a startup manager program to control what programs startup and run on my PC. One that always seems to be running and takes up a huge amount of space is "installer.exe". It is located in the directory: c:\\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\installer.exe . I have been elimating a bunch of garbage from my computer and my performance it great, but I wonder if I can disable this also. Anyone know what this is? I am running XP
