Installed XP service pack 2 and now cannot move any of my icons

If i attempt to move an icon nothing happens, if I do a rearange - i.e.,
sorted it will do that but no I just have that ugly lump of icons that is
totally useless.

I want to be able to arrange my desktop logically and with 100 icons it is
important.

HELP anyone!!

Right click the desktop > Arrange Icons by > only check Align to Grid
and Show Desktop Icons. Drag your Icons to the positions you want.

With 100 icons it would probably be better to put them into desktop
folders. Then change the folder icons to represent common groups.

That's my normal setting and I have about half those icons are folders - hte
rest are current items.

The actual solutin was to boot one more time as with most MS software I had
just booted but it meeded multiple boots before it would work
