I installed sp2 and it willl not boot. I see the splash screen and it will
reboot again. I tried safe mode it did not work

any Idea?

Thanks

Since SP2 has not been released to the general public,
how do you know you installed the official final version?
If you downloaded SP2 from any site other than a Microsoft
website, your SP2 may have been tampered with or you
may have installed an old beta version.

I'm having the exact same issue - I believe I've narrowed
this down to a graphics hardware conflict. I've
recovered my machine back to pre-SP1 and then did all the
upgrades to bring it current. Tried again after
disabling my second monitor (on my ATI All-in-wonder
RADEON 9800 Pro with Catalyst Drivers ver 4.6) and the
SAME thing happeend - after the install, which seemed to
go flawlessly, I get the newer splash screen and then it
just hangs. Subsequent reboots and safe-mode attempts
reveal again that the system seems to be hanging while
trying to load agp440.sys.

SO - back to square one again! MVP's... any thoughts? I
find it difficult to believe that I'm the only one with
this issue. I'm naturally hesitant to try again.

I downloaded from subscriber downloads(msdn) and it is final version not rc2

SP2 was released early this morning. Better check your facts first.

Since SP2 has not been released to the general public,
how do you know you installed the official final version?

Brian;
Is there onboard video not being used?
If so disable it.

If you have more than 1 video card, remove one while installing SP-2.
After all is working OK, reinstall the card with the latest Windows XP
video drivers.
