I am logged in under my user name in WindowsXp Home. Every program I install for myself to use is also being added to every other users desktop and programs list, and I am getting all the junk the others install...?

How do we stop that from happening? ... or does each of us just have to constantly delete the stuff that we didn't add to our own "customized" desktop, and if so, what is the point of each user having a customized desktop and program menu if others, not logged in to our profile, are forced (since they have no choice about it either) to add their programs to everyone elses.

Did you perchance check to see if the Administartor had set things up so
that what one does is done to everone else?

My experience has been that it is the way the program writer sets up
the instal.

With me, sometimes it goes into all users, sometimes into my own and
sometimes (rarel) it will ask me what to do.

So I just move them from:-

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs

into

C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Start Menu\Programs

Bit of a pain so I too would like to know if it is really the proram's
installation that controls it or can we, the installers, do something
about it?
