Installed Outlook - lost rules

I installed a new hard disk and had to re-install MS Office 2003 including
Outlook.

I imported my old PST using the import facility and everything worked fine.

But I have no rules. How do I import these?

Your rules are _not_ stored in the pst-file.
You have to export your rules in your old installation. The you can
import this rwz-file in your new installation.

If your old Outlook-Installation does not exist anymore on your old
harddisk you have to create your rules again.

But I think it will be the easier and faster way to create the rules
again rather than to plug in your old harddisk an save the rules there.
 
Speaking of lost!!! This is my first time here. I have been reading other
people's problems for hours and cannot figure out how to post my own
question. The "new" function doesn't function. There are no obvious
instructions of how to use this on the webpages that I have seen. Am I
blind? I only found this box to type in by desperately selecting "reply" to
another user's problem. And if I get an answer, how will I know it? Will
you email me or do I have to keep this site open for days and keep looking
for my question? Please reply directly to tell me how to use this. My email

I had this problem too when I started here. It was caused by my PopUp
Blocker. When I allowed Popups, I was able to post New messages. Also check
your security settings for this site.
 
Never import a .pst file. If you still have access the the original .pst
file, Open Outlook and use File->Open->Outlook Data file. You will have all
of your rules as well as everything else. Prior versions used a separate
file for the rules, but they are integrated into the Outlook.pst file in
2003 and going forward.

Rules are not integrated in the pst-file, neither in Outlook 2003 nor in
earlier versions.
 
what does pop up blocker have to do with a Microsoft interactive service?
It's their own blocker that is activated!
 
ok, I went to the blocker and found I could allow microsoft.com popups and it
worked. Thanks.

So this time I imported - which worked fine except for my missing rules.

You and Christian are contradicting each other. Which is it? Does Outlook
(2003) store rules in the PST file?

When I've done this previously, I've finished-up with two sets of
Personal Folders.

Of course. You then use Copy or Move to move things between the folder sets
and close the old folder set when done. I haen't tried this specifically,
but it seems to me that if you want the rules in that PST, then you have to
make it your delivery location, use the Rules Wizard to export them to an
rwz file, change your delivery location to your original PST, and import
them with the Rulez Wizard.

For profiles not containing an Exchange account, yes, but I don't think
importing with File>Import and Export will find them.
