ok, I installed IIS on to my new harddrive - should I uninstall FP 2002 and
then reinstall it now? or is this ok the way it is?

Also...when trying to follow directions on
http://www.webwizguide.com/asp/tutorials/installing_iis_winXP_pro.asp

to do the install for IIS - and after following directions - it doesn't
'look' right - after right clicking on Default Web Site and clicking on
New/Virtual Directory and typing in one of the names of my websites and then
browsing to where the sites are under MY WEBS, I clicked on that one and it
imported all the stuff to under default web site - this just doesn't look
right - do I have to click on NEW/Virtual Directory for each site I've made
under MY WEBS?? won't tht overwrite all the private and log/script ect
folders for the first site? Also, when I reopened FP - there is still no
local host showing up

PLEASE HELP this confused gal!

Pam

It's okay the way it is. But don't treat your web server directories as if
they were file locations. Make sure that you use HTTP to work with webs on
your local web server.

S/b OK as is.

No. In fact, you should *not* create virtual directories
for FrontPage Webs.
won't tht overwrite all the private and log/script ect
folders for the first site?

Only if you set up virtual folders that duplicate those
names. But you don't need to create any virtual folders.
Also, when I reopened FP - there is still no local host
showing up

You have to hand-type http://localhost the first time.

If that doesn't work, browse http://localhost in IE.

If browsing http://localhost in IE works, you probably
need to install the FrontPage Server Extensions.

If browsing http://localhost in IE doesn't work, either
your IIS installation is faulty or IIS isn't started. To
start it, right-click the server in IIS Manager and choose
Start from the shortcut menu.

Ok, I have IIS installed and it shows up in the admin tools as well as
Server Extensions Administrator (is that all that should show up for FP and
IIS?)

I also opened fp2002 and clicked on File/Open Web and typed in
http://localhost - it says:

FP has detected a web server conflict on port 80, which has server ext fo
rthe fp personal web srver but is running a Microsoft -IIS/5.1 Server. Fp
requies that you intall the fp server ext on this new server before using
it. Would you like to see help on how to do this?

so I clicked on Yes ... and of course the file could not be found ...

can you help me out here?

thanks!

Have you been following the guide at
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/tr...ol/sppt/sharepnt/proddocs/admindoc/owsd02.asp

If you have previously been using PWS uninstall it,
and reinstall the FP SE, then apply them in IIS

I've uninstalled IIS - then uninstalled MO w/fp ... I have downloaded the
FPSE from the below link -

Do I need to reinstall IIS 5.1 from the XP PRO disk and then install the
FPSE from the below link and THEN install Microsoft Office with FP after
that??? what is the order I should do this in?

Pam,

You need to install IIS from the Windows XP Pro CD, this will also install
the FP extensions, but may not apply them to your default web, in which case
you would have to open the IIS MMC and apply them. Then you can download the
updated version and install.

Then you can install Office/FP.

Ok, I've installed IIS from xppro CD - how do I determine if the fp ext are
applied to default web, and then how do I apply them in the MMC?

Open IIS MMC, select the default web, right click, All task, if the
extensions are not installed, you will see a option to installed, otherwise
you will see option to check them, etc.
