Installed a new boot drive and am trying to install
windows xp home edition and it gets to a window with five
stages: Collecting information, dynamic Update, Preparing
Installation, Install Windows which is now "orange", and
finalizing installation (which it never gets to).

It throws up a message: Device Installer error:"Windows
could not load the installer for Display. Contact your
hardware vendor for assistance. [OK].

It will throw up a lot of these "Device installer errors"
and does not progress.

Has this every happened to anyone and is there a fix?

I have the same problem and now I can't get back to Windows (* and I can't go forward with the installation. Can anyobne help?

I can't help you too much. I have similar problems.
Windows XP is a terrible OS. Once you crash it your kind
of dead meat unless you reformat your hard (and loose
everthing) and start from scratch. Best bet is to pay a
few dollars and take it to a reliable computer store and
let them do it correctly.
