Installation order for Runtime/ Developer extensions?

Hello,

Does it matter what order I install the Runtime and Developer Extensions for
A2007?

Also, has anyone had experience with deploying an app using these? I have
choice of using this or installing Office 2007 on a client machine for a
single app, and wonder which is the best route to take.

Sort of a trick question. There would be no reason to have Runtime and
Developers extensions installed on the same machine.

Access Runtime is a set of file that developers can distribute *with their
applications* to users who do not have Access Retail.

There is also no reason for both Access Runtime and Access Retail (of the
same version year) to be installed on the same machine. There are command
line switches that developers can use to make their apps run in "Runtime
mode", so they can test the apps' behaviour under Runtime.

Developers extensions are used by developers to legally package a custom
built application with the Access Runtime files. Runtime cannot be used to
create an application, only Access Retail can do that.

I guess I'm confused then. I thought that the Extensions were needed to
package the runtime in order to install them on another computer.

You misunderstood me. My choice is to install one or the other. I have no
reason to install Office 2007 and possibly disable their use of a previous
version of Office (as it did mine) unless the Runtime version will not do
the job. The client isn't using Office 2007 now. I need to develope an
Access app to run on his machines.

That is my intention. But don't the Extensions and Runtime need to be on my
machine to do that?

I think I didn't make myself clear in my post.

I installed both the Developer extensions and the runtime on my machine,
whether I need them both or not. Do you know what to do to use them or one
or the other? In the past, I tried this on a trial version. Someone said
there would be a "Developer" tab on the ribbon. I don't see that. Do I
need to do something to activate this?
