I currently have windows xp home edition, I am trying to
install xp pro, it says that it will take
like 51 min. to install, but it takes seconds, reboots
and then I get a blue screen that says something like..
If this is the first time this has happened turn off and
on again other wise, uninstall or disable virus
protection (which I have done) or check disk
defragmentation or something like that.
Any Help I can get would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Julie

1. Purchase a conventional "Retail Upgrade Version" of Windows XP Professional.
2. Uninstall your antivirus program.
3. Perform a backup of your important documents and files to a CD.
4. Disconnect all hardware peripheral devices, except the monitor, keyboard and mouse.
5. While running Windows XP Home, insert the Windows XP Pro CD in the drive and select
the default "Upgrade" setup option. [Do not select "New Installation"]
6. Visit the Windows Update site to download all the critical updates.
7. Perform a "Disk Cleanup" and then Defrag your drive.
