Hi All

I made an SP2 slipstreamed "unattended install" CD yesterday of my Windows
XP Pro CD....also did the same for Office 2003 Pro - based on a couple of
websites dedicated to windows I had come across. It seemed like a good idea
and slowly but surely I made up the CD's as required.

My technical skill level borders between Beginner and Intermediate with
these things.

But I had one further idea (hopefully not a stupid one).....

Would it not be possible to put all these installation disks for the above
Windows AND All of the Office programs, etc. onto one DVD to acheive the
same end and have a quicker install, etc?

This may have been covered at some time but I have not been able to find any
info on how to acheive this.

Is this possible and if so how can i acheive this or if there is a website
that does indeed cover this aspect, then please let me know?

Any help would be apreciated.

Regards

FG

I just did that recently I made a bootable DVD that has Windows XP Pro with SP2, Windows XP SP2
stand-alone updater, Windows ME, Microsoft Office XP Pro, Microsoft Office 2000 Pro, Microsoft
Java Virtual Machine, Nero 6 Ultra Edition - Version 6.6.0.16, Nero Digital Pro and several
plugins, NTI CD & DVD-Maker 7.0.0.3727 Platinum Edition, Alcohol 120%, Norton System Works Pro
2003, Norton Systemworks Premier 2005 custom, Norton AntiVirus - Corporate Edition v9.0.1400,
Norton Ghost v9.0, Winternals Administrator's Pak 5.0, WinRAR, WinZip, IsoBuster, WinISO, DVD
Shrink, MailWasher Pro 5.0, Paint Shop Pro 7,8,&9, ABBYY Fine Reader Pro 7.9 OCR, IrfanView, and
a few dozen other utilities and codecs to fill out the DVD to about 4.6 Gig. The new Nero 6
Ultra Edition has a gauge with warnings when nearing the DVD's capacity.

The DVD is bootable to Windows XP Pro with SP2 and the rest are copies of CD's and installers,
each in separate folders. Use IsoBuster to copy the boot off the original Windows XP Pro cd
(Or Google for the BootImage.img file), and use Nero 6 Ultra Edition to build and burn the DVD.
Nero can also save it as an iso image, and then you can use Alcohol 120% or NTI to burn it.

Tip: See http://www.theeldergeek.com/slipstream_nero_procedure.htm for tips on using Nero to
burn the CD. Especially the part about setting [Number of Loaded Sectors] to 4 (Failing to set
this to 4 will make the CD unbootable), and closing the CD when done. I burned 2 coasters
before I found that out.

http://ww2.nero.com/enu/index.html
http://www.smart-projects.net/isobuster/

Start to finish, including a nice label I made, took about an hour and it boots just fine off
the desktop PC, and laptop DVD drives.

Wow....thats even more programs than I had envisaged....LOL

When you state "The DVD is bootable to Windows XP Pro with SP2 and the rest
are copies of CD's and installers,
each in separate folders......"

What for example - using XP Pro...and say 3 off the programs you listed -
look like on the DVD - regarding folders, etc.

I know how to make an ISO of the XP Pro SP2 CD and burn it to a single CD -
but how would I include all the other program CD's to burn to DVD?

What do you do with the installation keys for the programs?
Are the keys saved in a text file or written on the DVD case?

Yes, the keys are saved to a text file in the root directory, a printout in the DVD case, and a

When the DVD is BOOTED from power on, the DVD will start the XP Pro installer just like the
original CD. I could just as well have made the DVD bootable to Norton System Works instead but
the WinXP autostart has an easier menu to work with. There are several 3rd party programs out
there that could have created a menu for each item on the DVD, but why spend more money to save
a few mouse clicks. AutoPlay Media Studio is one example. http://www.indigorose.com/ams/

I gave you the links to software that will let you ADD files and folders to an ISO file. You

I made a DVD that installs XP unattended with the current service pack and
hotfixes integrated plus silently installs about 20 other programs at the
first Logon using the RunOnceEx method. My Office 2003 suite is slipstreamed
with current the service pack and hotfixes. Also during the Installation,
around the T-12 mark, my user accounts are created plus any reg tweaks I
created.

I used this guide to help me out.
