I had to re-install Home XP because I was stupid and let a virus in. I have almost everything re-installed but have been trying for two days to re-install my printer. It was working fine before the re-installation of XP. I know both of my USB port are working as I tried my internet camera on both ports. I have my original Lexmark software CDs. I follow Lexmark's directions for installation and leave the USB cable disconnected until I am prompted by the installation software. At that point, I hear the little chime when a device gets connected or disconnected, but some how I don't think the machine or the software detects it or acknowledges it. After a minute or so, I hear another Windows sound that sounds like a timeout. The installation software keeps running and then all of a sudden, the software loops back to the beginning and starts the install process again. Some one please help me before I pull out what little hair I have left!

Try to completely uninstall the driver before you reinstall according
to the instructions in this page:
http://www.coribright.com/Windows/Article One.htm

Also you might need to check this out and pay close attention to the
part about Lexmark printers:

Good luck
