installation nightmares

I just (finally) upgraded to xp home. (why didnt I listen
to "if it isnt broke dont fix it!?" I have an athlon 1.2
tbird on a abit kt133 mb. running 512 ram and a geforce 4
mx 400 128 mb video card. I used the maxtor utility to
format my hard drive (80 gig), The installation will go
until it says :starting windows" then it reboots and ask
for the cd. If I try to change to the hard drive it says
NTLDR missing....
Ive reformatted over and over, changed video cards, mice,
erased the cmos. used fail-safe settings,, im at a loss...
Isnt it grand to be a freekin beta tester for Mr bates>

Eject the Floppy Disk..

Remove the Maxtor software
Then repartition and reformat using the XP cd.
Stop beta testing for Maxtor
