Dear all,

I use RAM based overlay and boot the XPe from a Flash Disk.

My problem is that now I am unable to install any software.

For example: when installing File Viewers the following errors occurred.

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error Creating process.

<C:\Docume~1\user\local~1\temp\MSE00\setup.exe>
Reason: The system cannot find the file specified.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

What could be the reasons behind this?

Can anyone help me regarding this?

With regards,
Ranga.

Ranga,

Are you disabling the overlay before you install the software, or any you
intending to commit the overlay after installation has finished?

Have no idea what application you try to use but EWF is not a cause for this
error.
Try adding "Dos Windows on Windows Support", does this help?

Slobodan

Dear Brad,

Thanks for your response. This happens even if I disable or enable the overlay.

Dear Slobodan,

Dos Windows on Windows support is already there.

Dear Doug,

Shall I know, what is this the 8.3 naming convention? Please help me.

with regards,
Ranga.

Ranga:

You would have had to make the following reg hack:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem]
"NtfsDisable8dot3NameCreation"=dword:00000001
