I'm running into blue screen errors every time I attempt a
bare installation of XP on the following system:-
Duron 1800 ---new (2 tried)
ECS K7VTA3 mobo ---new (2 tried)
512 MB PC2700 DDR RAM ---new
30 GB Seagate Drive, Master IDE1 ---from original sys.
2 CD roms, Slave and Master IDE2 ---1new 1from original sys
NVidia Geforce 2 AGP4x ---new
This system had an old unserviced Win2000 installation on
the old HDD so I reformatted and re-partitioned it into 3
10GB partitions. Unfortunately I had to use a Win98 Boot
disk and then fdisk. This all went faultlessly so I guess
it's FAT32 now. The problem occurs when it's
displaying 'starting windows' during the first stage of
install then after a pause I get a blue screen with
something about 'invalid page..too large.. in a nonpaged
area' Unfortunately I didn't write it all down as I was
too busy cursing at the screen.
Any help appreciated, Stuart.

I would suggest starting over using the following procedure:

The Windows XP CD is bootable and contains all the tools necessary
to partition and format your drive. Follow this procedure and allow
Windows XP to partition and format your drive:

NOTE: It would be best to physically disconnect all your peripheral hardware
devices, except the monitor, mouse and keyboard, before installing XP.

1. Open your BIOS and set your "CD Drive as the first bootable device".

2. Insert your Windows XP CD in the CD Drive and reboot your computer.
3. You'll see a message to boot to the CD....follow the instructions.
4. The setup menu will appear and you should elect to delete the existing
Windows partitions, then create a new partition, then format the primary
partition (preferably NTFS) and proceed to install Windows XP.

5. Clean Install Windows XP

6. After Windows XP is installed, visit the Windows Update website
and download the available "Critical Updates".

7. After installing the critical updates, be sure and visit the support website
of the manufacturer of the computer to download and install any
available Windows XP compatible drivers, such as video adapter
and audio drivers.

8. If you happen to run into any installation difficulties, use the following resources:
